What Comes With a Colony Home Display
Pick the look you want and we take care of the rest through our home holiday lighting service.
01
Planned around your roof
A 1970s single-story and a Tribute two-story need different layouts, so every design starts with your actual roof and yard.
04
Repair visits
If wind off the lake or a bad bulb darkens a section, call us and a crew comes out to fix it.
02
Leased LED strands
We furnish commercial-grade lights cut to your runs, with no inventory for you to keep in the garage.
05
Takedown
Once the holidays end, we remove everything we installed and leave the house as we found it.
03
Yard and tree lighting
Front trees, shrubs and walkways can be wrapped, netted or lined to add a lower layer beneath the roofline.
06
Storage and reinstall
Labeled lights wait at our facility until next fall, ready to go back on the same house.

Original Colony Homes and The Tribute
Fox & Jacobs bought land around State Highway 121 and FM 423 in 1973 and finished the first model homes in 1974. The early numbered sections, such as Colony 8, are mostly one-story brick homes of roughly 1,300 square feet on lots around a sixth of an acre. A single eave outline, lit hedges and a wrapped front tree suit them, and the short roof height keeps the work straightforward.
The Tribute, a 1,600-acre development on a Lewisville Lake peninsula, sits at the other end of the range. Its single-family homes, golf villas and townhomes surround the Tribute Golf Links and Old American Golf Club, and Taylor Morrison's Waterford Point collections there are single-story plans with optional second stories. Stone accents, arched entries and courtyards give us more architecture to work with.

Getting Your Colony Home Lit
01
Start with a call
Tell us your street and what you want lit. The city's free Christmas Spectacular light show at the Central Firehouse opens in early December, and many homeowners like their own display glowing by then.
02
Measure the house
We measure roofline, trees and beds, locate outlets and ask about HOA rules or gate codes.
03
Approve the design
A written proposal lists each element so you can add or drop pieces before anything goes up.
04
Install and maintain
Most homes are done in a single visit, and in-season repairs are a phone call away.
05
Remove and store
When the holidays are over we take it down, label it and store it for next year.
The Colony Neighborhoods We Decorate
We light homes from the original Fox & Jacobs streets to the lakefront communities. Neighbors in Frisco homes just east of us and Lewisville homes to the southwest are on our schedule as well.
Original Fox & Jacobs sections
Neighborhoods built from 1974 onward off FM 423 hold modest brick single-story homes, many now shaded by trees that were saplings when the first families arrived. A one-line eave outline plus a wrapped tree gives these houses a classic look.
Waterford Point
Taylor Morrison's section of The Tribute offers single-story plans from roughly 1,600 to 3,800 square feet, some with a second-story option. Wide, low rooflines and covered entries suit a continuous eave line and garland at the door.
Eastvale
This small lakeside town along FM 423 voted to join The Colony in 1987. Homes on its streets near the shore catch the same west wind as the peninsula, so we keep designs simple: warm white rooflines and wrapped trees, secured for gusts.
The Tribute
A lakeside community with two golf courses, shoreline trails and homes from about 1,800 to over 4,000 square feet. Larger facades take layered designs, and golf or lake views make rear lighting worthwhile.
Stewart Peninsula
Established homes around the nine-hole Stewart Peninsula Golf Course sit on a point of land with broad lake views. Open exposure calls for secure clips and strong, simple outlines, and landscape lighting in The Colony can keep paths and trees lit after the season.
City by the Lake: Wind, Water and HOAs
About 23 miles of Lewisville Lake shoreline lie within city limits, which is where The Colony gets its City by the Lake nickname. Homes on Stewart Peninsula and in The Tribute face open water to the west, where winter fronts arrive with little in their way. We secure runs tightly at each clip, avoid loose drops at the corners and test before leaving.
Master-planned sections and newer subdivisions here are typically governed by associations with guidelines on holiday displays. We match designs to those rules, and boards weighing lighting for their own gates and amenity centers can read about our HOA holiday lighting in The Colony.
Clips set tight for west winds off the lake
No loose wire left at roof corners
Every run tested before the crew leaves
Association rules checked in the design
Weather damage repaired by service call

How We Figure Your Quote in The Colony
Quotes come from a measured design for your house. These factors carry the most weight.
How much roofline
A single-story Fox & Jacobs eave is a short, simple run. A Tribute two-story with several gables takes much more.
Colors and bulb style
Warm white, multicolor and a mix of large and small bulbs change the product used. This year's lighting trends can help you decide.
Roof height
Second-story peaks and steep pitches need more time and safety equipment than one-story homes.
Extras
Wreaths, garland, bows and walkway lights are added one by one, so the display can grow over the years.
Trees and shrubs
Each wrapped tree and netted bed adds product and labor, and mature trees cost more to light than small ones.

The Colony Christmas Light FAQs
Have a question we didn’t cover? Call 972-620-9560 or request a free quote online.
Do you install Christmas lights on homes in The Colony?
–
Yes. We light homes all over The Colony, ZIP code 75056, from the first Fox & Jacobs neighborhoods to The Tribute, Stewart Peninsula and Eastvale. Business and community properties are handled through our Christmas lighting service in The Colony.
Lease, buy or install permanent lights: which makes sense?
–
Our seasonal lease covers the product, repairs, takedown and storage, so nothing lands in your garage. Buying puts all of that back on you. If you want lights that stay mounted for every holiday, compare permanent home lighting near The Colony.
How early do I need to book?
–
Plan to call in early fall. Installs generally begin in early November, and lakefront and golf-course homes with rear lighting take longer to plan, so an early start keeps your preferred dates open.
When does the display come down?
–
Generally in early January, after the holidays. We remove all lights and hardware and store everything labeled for your address.
Do HOAs in The Tribute and other communities allow Christmas lights?
–
Generally yes, with rules on timing, placement or style that vary by association. Send us your community's guidelines and we will fit the design and dates to them before install.
Will the crew harm my shingles or gutters?
–
No nails or staples go into your shingles. We use clips designed for gutters and shingle edges, and everything comes off cleanly at removal.
How are timers and power handled?
–
Runs connect to your outdoor outlets, and a timer turns the display on each evening and off at the time you set. On 1970s homes with few exterior outlets, we plan the layout around the ones you have.
Can my display be seen from the lake or the fairway?
–
It can. Homes facing Lewisville Lake or a golf course can have the rear roofline lit so the display shows from the water, trails or course. We secure those runs with extra care because they take the most wind.
