Holiday Lighting for Commercial Properties and HOAs in The Colony, TX
Carruthers Decorative Lighting offers Christmas lighting in The Colony to commercial properties, HOAs and master-planned communities, car dealerships and municipal clients only. Houses are not part of the service here; we install on homes in Plano, Frisco, Allen and Richardson.
The Colony is a Denton County city on the eastern shore of Lewisville Lake. It began in 1973, when the homebuilder Fox and Jacobs bought land around State Highway 121 and FM 423, and it incorporated in 1977. Those two roads still organize the city. The Sam Rayburn Tollway, which carries the main lanes of State Highway 121, runs along the south side, and that is where Grandscape, the city's entertainment, retail and dining district, sits. To the north, on a peninsula in the lake, is The Tribute, a master-planned golf community of roughly 1,500 acres. So holiday lighting in The Colony tends to be one of two jobs: a high-traffic commercial venue that stays open late, or a lakeside community with a long entry drive.
Grandscape-Area Venues, Austin Ranch and Lakeside Communities
The Tribute is the best-known HOA community in The Colony. It has two golf courses, pools, trails and several named villages, among them The Lochs, The Glen, The Gardens and Balmerino. We also serve communities such as Stewart Peninsula, which has its own nine-hole course and clubhouse on the lake, Waterford Point and the residential areas of Austin Ranch. For an association, the lighting plan normally covers the gated or monument entrance, the amenity building or clubhouse, the trees that line the entry drive and any shared plaza or pavilion.
Commercial holiday lighting in The Colony is concentrated near the tollway. Grandscape draws visitors for shopping, dining and entertainment, and venues around it compete for attention in the evening. A display helps a restaurant, hotel, retailer or entertainment venue stand out from the service road: lit rooflines, wrapped trees, bistro lighting over a patio, a commercial Christmas tree at the entrance and oversized ornaments where guests take photos. Austin Ranch adds a second cluster, with restaurants gathered around a shared deck and dog park.
Hotels, restaurants and entertainment venues are the main commercial category here. Car dealerships are a priority customer for us as well, and any auto retailer in the city can request a quote. For hospitality properties, Twinkly Pro app-controlled lighting is worth a look. It lets a manager change colors and animations from a phone for a private event, a game night or a New Year's Eve party without a crew visit.
From first call to storage, the steps are fixed. We meet your property manager, board member or general manager for a site walk. A written proposal with a design map follows. Proof of liability insurance and workers' compensation is provided as a certificate of insurance on request. Lighting is leased, cut to fit and installed around your operating hours, which matters for venues that are busiest at night. Service during the season is usually within 24-48 hours of a call. Crews begin removal in early January and store the lighting in a climate-controlled facility.
The city's own season opens with Holiday in the Park and the Parade of Lights at Perryman Park on the first Saturday of December, alongside The Colony Christmas Spectacular light show. Properties that want to be lit before that night should ask for a quote in early fall. Call 972-620-9560 or use the online quote form.

The Colony Christmas Lighting FAQs
Do you install Christmas lights on homes in The Colony?
No. In The Colony we install only for commercial properties, HOAs and master-planned communities, car dealerships and the city. A homeowner cannot book an individual house here, though an HOA can hire us for its entrances and amenity buildings. Residential installation is offered in Plano, Frisco, Allen and Richardson.
Can you light a restaurant or entertainment venue near Grandscape that is open late?
Yes. Installation is scheduled around your operating hours, so crews work when the venue is closed or slow. Rooflines, trees, patios and entrances can be lit, and bistro lighting and Twinkly Pro app-controlled lighting are available. If a section goes out during the season, service is usually within 24-48 hours of your call.
What is Twinkly Pro lighting, and is it available in The Colony?
Twinkly Pro is app-controlled lighting that lets a property change colors, scenes and animations from a phone or tablet. We offer it in The Colony for commercial properties and HOA common areas. It suits venues that host events, because the look can change for a private party or a holiday weekend without a service visit.
Do you light HOA entrances at The Tribute and other lakeside communities?
We serve HOA and master-planned communities in The Colony, including communities such as The Tribute and Stewart Peninsula. The association contracts for common areas: entrances, monument signs, clubhouses, amenity buildings and entry-drive trees. The board receives a written proposal with a design map and can request a certificate of insurance.
