HOA Holiday Lighting in The Colony, TX

Many of the HOA communities in The Colony sit on or near Lewisville Lake, and the two best known are on peninsulas. A peninsula community has a limited number of ways in, so the entrance carries more of the holiday display than it would elsewhere, and the drive from the entrance to the pool or clubhouse can be long.

Christmas Decor by Carruthers Decorative Lighting provides holiday lighting for association common areas in The Colony. The service starts with a site walk and a written proposal with a design map organized by location. The lighting is leased commercial-grade LED, custom-cut to the property. We install it, maintain it during the season, begin removal in early January and store it in a climate-controlled facility.

In The Colony we work for associations, commercial properties, car dealerships and the city. Individual homes are not served here. What follows is written for board members and community managers deciding what to light and when to start.

Lake Peninsulas, Golf Entrances and Village Monuments in The Colony

The Tribute is the largest association community in the city. Its developer describes about 1,600 acres on a Lewisville Lake peninsula, planned for more than 2,000 single-family homes, with two golf courses, a resort pool and spray park, and canals. The courses are The Tribute Golf Links and Old American Golf Club. The community is reached from Lebanon Road and is divided into named villages such as Westbury, The Lochs and Chelsea Green. A display there can be scoped at two levels: the main approach and amenity buildings for the master association, or a monument for a single village.

Golf courses and associations are separate clients. The two courses at The Tribute and the public nine-hole Stewart Peninsula Golf Course, with its lighthouse-style clubhouse on Cottonwood Springs, have their own buildings and their own operators. An HOA proposal covers what the association owns: entry monuments, walls, pool buildings and common-area trees. A golf clubhouse can be lit under a separate commercial proposal.

Stewart Peninsula is an established lake neighborhood with several sections. Real estate listings divide it into areas such as Northshore, Southshore, The Heights and Cypress Cove. In an established neighborhood, entry signs and mature trees are usually the whole scope, and a simple design with outlined signs and wrapped trunks suits them.

Communities nearer the Sam Rayburn Tollway face a different condition. Austin Ranch is a Billingsley Company development of more than 1,700 acres spread across The Colony, Lewisville and Carrollton, next to Grandscape. It is mostly apartments and offices, with single-family sections such as Austin Waters. The Legends is another neighborhood in the city. Close to a large retail district, an entrance competes with commercial lighting and needs clean, bright lines to register.

The city's calendar gives boards a target. The Colony holds Holiday in the Park and the Parade of Lights at Perryman Park in early December, and that event marks the start of its Christmas Spectacular light show at the Central Firehouse. To be lit by then, a board should request a site walk in late summer and vote in the fall.

Managers get the documents and the service line they need. We carry liability insurance and workers' compensation and send a certificate of insurance to the management company on request. Installation is scheduled with the manager. Maintenance during the season is included and is usually completed within 24 to 48 hours of a call.

The Colony HOA Holiday Lighting FAQs

Do you install Christmas lights on individual homes in The Tribute or Stewart Peninsula?

No. In The Colony we work only for associations, commercial properties, car dealerships and the city. Individual homes are served only in Plano, Frisco, Allen and Richardson. A resident who wants the community entrance lit can give our number, 972-620-9560, to the board or the community manager.

Can a single village in a master-planned community in The Colony request its own proposal?

Yes. A village or sub-association can request a proposal for the monument and common areas it controls, and a master association can request one for the main approach and amenity buildings. Ask your manager which association is responsible for each location before the site walk so the design map is accurate.

Our entrance is on a long approach road with limited power. Can it still be lit?

Often, yes. During the site walk we look at where power is available at the monument and along the drive, and the design map shows only locations that can be powered. A board can concentrate lighting at the monument and the nearest trees first, then extend along the drive in a later season.

What happens if a storm off the lake damages part of the display?

In-season maintenance is included. The manager or a board member calls 972-620-9560, and repairs are usually completed within 24 to 48 hours of the call. Because the lighting is leased and maintained by us, the association does not need to find a second vendor in December.
