What a Plano Season Covers

Plano homeowners get a single crew and a single office line from the first tape measure to the January pickup.

01

Design drawn for your elevation

A Haggard Park Foursquare and a Castlemere tile-roof house need different plans, so we walk the property and sketch lines that suit its shape and era.

04

Greenery at the door

Lit garland around the entry, wreaths for upstairs windows and bows for porch posts can join the roofline, which helps single-story homes with deep front porches.

02

Lighting you lease

The commercial-grade LED product stays ours. You get it installed each year with no purchase and no shelf of plastic bins taking over the garage.

05

Service through New Year's

If a section goes dark after a cold front, ring our office and we send someone out to fix it. Maintenance is part of the season, not an extra.

03

Measured runs

Every eave, peak and dormer is measured on site and the wire is cut to length, so corners stay tight and nothing coils beside the downspout.

06

January removal and storage

When the season wraps up, the crew takes everything down, tags it to your address and keeps it at our northwest Dallas shop until the next install.

Plano Houses From Five Different Eras

Plano grew in layers. Around Haggard Park near downtown, houses from the 1890s through the 1910s include Queen Anne and Folk Victorian cottages and a 1918 Prairie-style Foursquare. The 1970s and 1980s filled east Plano with brick subdivisions and west Plano with single-story homes on alley-loaded lots, and the citywide median home was built around 1987. North Plano added two-story brick and stone homes through the 1990s and 2000s.

Each era asks for a different plan. On a Victorian, the porch trim, spindles and steep front gable carry the look, so we keep the roof simple and let the porch glow. A single-story ranch gets one level eave line with shrubs lit beneath it. The larger houses of the 1990s and 2000s, with stacked gables, arched entries and turret-like stair towers, look cleanest when we choose two or three strong lines instead of tracing every hip and valley.

  • Victorian porches outlined, roof kept quiet

  • Ranch eaves lit as one level run

  • Alley-garage homes designed for the street face

  • Tile roofs fitted with clips made for tile

  • Stone towers and arches traced, not boxed in

From First Visit to January in Plano

01

Design visit

A designer walks your lot, measures eaves, peaks and trees, finds the exterior outlets and notes anything unusual, such as a tile roof in Castlemere or a wraparound porch near Haggard Park.

02

Itemized proposal

You receive a written plan listing every lit roofline, tree and wreath. Add or drop pieces before anything is cut to length for your house.

03

Installation day

Crews clip the lighting to gutters and shingle edges, run cords to your outlets, set the timer and test every section before they pack up.

04

December service calls

Wind, a squirrel or a tripped GFCI can darken a run. Phone the office and a technician is booked to fix it.

05

January takedown

Once January arrives, we take the display down, bag and label it for your address, and hold it at our shop until the following season.

Plano Neighborhoods We Light

Here is how housing shifts across Plano, from one side of town to the other. We also light homes just across the city lines in Allen's established neighborhoods and Frisco's newer subdivisions.

Haggard Park and downtown

Near downtown Plano in 75074, the streets around Haggard Park contain some of Plano's oldest houses, including Queen Anne homes from around 1900 on H Avenue and East 17th Street. Porch posts, spindlework and window trim light beautifully, and the big shade trees overhead can take trunk and canopy wraps.

Castlemere

A late-1990s enclave in 75093 beside Windhaven Meadows Park, where some homes wear Spanish-style tile roofs. Tile needs clips designed for it, so we plan attachment points during the design visit and often let arches, entries and year-round landscape lighting in Plano share the work.

Parker Road Estates

East Plano homes built mostly in the 1970s and 1980s, with modest rooflines and established yards. Where a house is single-story, the install is quick and safe from one ladder height, and more of the plan can go toward lit shrubs, a wrapped front tree and walkway markers.

Old Shepard Place

Off Preston Road and Park Boulevard in 75093, this neighborhood is almost entirely one-story houses, built in the early 1980s on quarter-acre lots, with garages at the back off the alleys and trees planted down the medians. Because the street sees only the front elevation, a level eave line, a lit entry and wrapped yard trees read clean.

Ridgeview Ranch

A master-planned community of about 870 homes in 75025, set on the hills of the Ridgeview Ranch Golf Course, with a median build year near 2000 and garages that mostly face the rear. Fairway lots are seen from the fairways as well as from the street, so we ask whether the back roofline deserves lights too.

Deerfield Sets the Bar, HOAs Set the Rules

Plano takes residential lighting seriously. Deerfield, a northwest Plano neighborhood of 733 homes near Legacy Drive, built a decorating tradition that began with a builder-sponsored contest and now draws drive-through traffic and reserved carriage rides through most of December. Viewing opens on the first of December, which makes a handy deadline for any Plano home that wants to be glowing for the season.

Much of west and north Plano is governed by homeowners associations, while older east side streets and the blocks near downtown often have none. Where an association exists, we read its holiday guidelines on installation dates, placement and color before we finalize a design. Boards that want their entrances and medians lit too can see our Plano HOA holiday lighting service.

  • Display finished before December viewing season

  • HOA guidelines reviewed with you before install

  • Warm white, multicolor or mixed palettes

  • Timer hours set to match your street

  • No-HOA streets planned with the same care

What Shapes a Plano Quote

Quotes come from your measurements and the plan you approve. These are the variables that move them.

Feet of lit roofline

The longest line on most Plano homes is the front eave. Adding side returns, the garage and rear elevations each extends the total run.

Bulb style and color plan

Warm white, cool white, multicolor and alternating patterns install the same way, but mixed designs and specialty bulbs change the product list. Browse ideas in our notes on current lighting trends.

Pitch, height and access

Steep 1990s roofs, second-story gables and tight side yards need taller ladders, harness setups and extra hours compared with a ranch eave reached from the ground.

Garland, wreaths and ground pieces

Lit garland, window wreaths, bows and pathway markers are optional line items, so a first-year plan can stay simple and grow in later seasons.

Trees and beds

Old pecans and live oaks in established neighborhoods can take long trunk and canopy wraps. Shrub nets and young ornamental trees take far less.

Plano Home Lighting Questions

Have a question we didn’t cover? Call 972-620-9560 or request a free quote online.

Do you install Christmas lights on homes in Plano?

–

Yes. We light houses in every Plano ZIP code: 75023, 75024, 75025, 75074, 75075, 75093 and 75094. That includes historic homes near downtown, 1980s single-story streets in west Plano and two-story homes in the north. Our Plano Christmas lighting page explains the shopping center and entrance work we do in town.

Is a seasonal lease or permanent lighting the better fit for my Plano house?

–

Leasing suits homeowners who want a full holiday design with garland, wreaths and tree wraps and no gear to store. Permanent track lighting is mounted under the eaves year-round and switches colors from an app. If that appeals to you, look over our Plano permanent lighting page before deciding.

When should a Plano homeowner book, and when do installs start?

–

Aim to call before October. Crews usually start hanging lights in early November, and homes that want to be glowing when Deerfield's December viewing nights start or when family arrives for Thanksgiving should be on the schedule well before then. A home we lit last year is reinstalled from its saved plan.

When do the lights come down?

–

When the holiday season ends, most often during the opening weeks of January. We schedule removal by route, so the crew may arrive while you are at work. Everything is packed, labeled to your address and stored with us.

Will my Plano HOA approve the display?

–

Most Plano associations allow holiday lighting but set dates and placement rules, and a few ask homeowners to submit anything attached to the house. Send us your HOA name or its guidelines and we design within them. Older east Plano streets and the downtown blocks often have no association at all.

Can clips damage a tile or shingle roof?

–

Our clips slide onto gutter lips, shingle edges and tile, and nothing is nailed, screwed or stapled into the roof. Castlemere-style tile roofs get clips made for tile. When the lights come down in January, the clips leave with them.

Will the display trip my breakers or need extra outlets?

–

LED lighting draws a fraction of the power older incandescent strands did, so most Plano homes run the whole display from existing exterior outlets. We check outlets and GFCI circuits during the design visit and set a timer to the hours you want.

Can you light a historic home near Haggard Park without harming the trim?

–

Yes. On older wood siding and trim we avoid fasteners and rely on clips, soft ties and freestanding pieces. Porch railings, spindles and posts can carry lit garland, and the design keeps original details visible rather than covering them.
