Your Garland Season, Start to Finish

A good display starts with the right plan and ends with your attic still empty.

01

Plan matched to the house

Postwar ranch, split-level or Firewheel two-story, we design around the lines your home actually has.

04

Season-long upkeep

A failed bulb or strand is our job to fix, not yours. Call the office and a crew comes out.

02

Lighting cut to fit

Our commercial LED product is measured on site and cut to each run, so it sits tight from corner to corner.

05

Down after New Year's

We remove the display once the season ends, so you skip the cold-weather ladder work entirely.

03

Hung by insured crews

Installers carry liability and workers' comp coverage, clip every strand in place and check the whole display before leaving.

06

Off-season storage

Each display is labeled for its home and kept until fall, ready for a faster reinstall.

Lighting Garland's Postwar Ranches

Garland went from about 38,500 residents in 1960 to nearly 139,000 by 1980. That boom produced the long one-story brick ranches with low hip roofs and attached garages that fill so much of central and south Garland. North Garland came later: the Firewheel area filled in after Firewheel Golf Park opened in 1983, and Firewheel Town Center followed in 2005, bringing more two-story homes and master-planned neighborhoods.

A ranch's strength is its length. One straight run along the front eave, lit garage corners and a row of lit shrubs make a low house look finished from the street. On Firewheel two-stories we choose the front gables and the entry rather than outlining every ridge, then add wreaths on upstairs windows. Near the downtown square, older homes in the Travis College Hill area suit warm white and fresh greenery more than bright color.

  • Front eave lit end to end on one-story ranches

  • Garage corners traced to frame the drive

  • Two-story gables picked, not all outlined

  • Wreaths centered on upstairs windows

  • Warm white for historic homes near downtown

Getting Lights Up on a Garland Home

01

Request a visit

Call or send your address. September is a good month to reach out for a November install.

02

Measure the home

We measure eaves, garage lines and trees, locate outdoor outlets and talk about color and any HOA rules in Firewheel-area communities.

03

Review the plan

You get a design and quote from those numbers. Approve it and we reserve your date.

04

Installation

Crews hang and clip every run, set the timer and test the whole display before they go.

05

Service and storage

Repairs are covered through the season, and afterward we take everything down and store it.

Garland Neighborhoods We Light

From Firewheel in the north to the older streets around downtown and south Garland, our crews cover the whole city. Homes next door in Richardson's established neighborhoods and Rowlett's lakeside streets are on the same routes.

Firewheel

North Garland's Firewheel area grew around Firewheel Golf Park, which opened in 1983, and Firewheel Town Center, which arrived in 2005. Newer two-story homes are common here, and golf-course lots are seen from behind as well as from the street.

Travis College Hill

This residential historic district near the downtown square was the first local site added to the National Register of Historic Places. Older homes on these streets suit warm white outlines, wreaths and garland that respect the original trim.

Club Hill, Eastern Hills and Oakridge

Established central and south Garland neighborhoods from earlier decades of the city's growth. One-story homes with attached garages light cleanly with a single outline, lit shrubs and a wrapped front tree.

Provence at Firewheel

A master-planned community near Firewheel Golf Park with its own entrance walls, monuments and common areas. Homeowners should check the association's guidelines on display timing, and we design to them.

Duck Creek

Duck Creek was one of the original communities that merged to form Garland, and the creek of the same name still winds through the city. Homes near the creek greenbelts often have big yard trees that take a trunk wrap well.

Power, Weather and Garland Power & Light

Garland runs its own electric utility, Garland Power & Light, which traces back to a municipal generating plant the town financed in the 1920s. Whoever supplies your electricity, a modern LED display draws a small fraction of what old incandescent strands did, and we lay out the design around the outdoor outlets your home already has.

Weather is the bigger concern. Gusty fronts and the odd round of sleet or freezing rain can roll through Garland in December, so every run is clipped tight and tested at install, and a crew comes back to repair anything a storm knocks loose. For lighting that keeps paths and trees glowing year-round, look at our Garland landscape lighting.

  • Outlets checked at the design visit

  • LED draw kept light on household circuits

  • Runs clipped tight against wind

  • Storm repairs handled by service call

  • Timers set to the evening hours you choose

Garland Cost Factors

Your quote is built from measurements at the house. These are the variables.

Length of eave and gable

Total feet of lit roofline is the largest piece. Ranches can run long, so many owners light the front face only.

Color choices

Classic warm white, multicolor or a mixed scheme all work, though mixed schemes use more varied product.

One story or two

Single-story homes go up faster. Two-story Firewheel homes need taller ladders, more safety gear and more time.

Extra pieces

Wreaths, garland and pathway lights are quoted item by item, so you can trim or expand the design.

Trees and shrubs

Each wrapped trunk, lit canopy and netted shrub adds lighting and labor, scaled to the size of the plant.

Garland Homeowners Ask

Have a question we didn’t cover? Call 972-620-9560 or request a free quote online.

Do you install Christmas lights on homes in Garland?

–

Yes. We install on homes across Garland in ZIP codes 75040, 75041, 75042, 75043, 75044 and 75048. For storefronts, dealerships and industrial sites, see our Garland Christmas lighting for businesses.

Are the lights mine to keep?

–

No, they are leased, so you never buy, store or replace them. We maintain them through the season and keep them after takedown. If you want lights that never come down, our permanent lighting service for Garland installs a year-round system you can use for every holiday.

How early should I book?

–

Reach out in September or early October. Installs typically start in early November, and Garland dates go in the order designs are approved.

When are the lights removed?

–

After the holidays, usually in early January. If you need a different week, mention it when you book and we will try to fit it in.

Do HOA rules apply in Garland?

–

In master-planned communities around Firewheel, often yes, while older subdivisions may have fewer rules or none. Share your guidelines and we will design within them. Boards can also have their entrances lit through our community HOA lighting.

Could installation damage shingles or gutters?

–

Our crews do not nail or staple anything into shingles. On a Garland ranch the lights ride on gutter clips along that long eave, and each clip is pulled when the display is removed.

Will the lights run up my power bill?

–

LED lighting uses far less electricity than incandescent strands, and we supply timers that limit the display to the evening hours you choose. Whether your power comes from Garland Power & Light or another provider, the display plugs into your existing outdoor outlets.

Do you light historic homes near downtown Garland?

–

Yes. On older homes near the square, including the Travis College Hill area, we clip to gutters and trim edges, avoid anything that would mark original materials and lean toward warm white with greenery that suits the architecture.
