Bistro Light Projects We Take On in Garland

Homes, restaurants and shared spaces all start with the same site visit.

01

Courtyards

Enclosed courtyards are ideal for a crisscross canopy anchored to the surrounding walls. We find solid mounting points on each side and plan spans that read as one even ceiling of light.

04

Church and School Courtyards

Courtyards and gathering areas at churches and schools can host evening events in warm, even light. Work is planned around foot traffic and scheduled when the grounds are quiet.

02

Gazebos and Pavilions

Strands can outline the roof edge, drape inside the open structure or link the gazebo to the house with a lit span. We fasten to framing without marring finished wood.

05

Balconies and Side Yards

Even a narrow balcony or side yard can carry a short run or two. We size the strand, bulb spacing and anchors to the space so it looks intentional rather than crowded.

03

Trees and Lawn Spans

When the yard has mature trees but no nearby walls, we anchor to trunks with tree-safe straps or set posts, so a run can cross the lawn to a pergola, swing set or fire pit.

06

Breweries and Beer Gardens

Long communal tables and open lawns suit parallel runs or a wide canopy. Commercial-grade cable and secure terminations let the strands handle crowds, yard games and weekend events.

Mounting Without the Damage

Every surface takes a different anchor. Brick and stone hold well with anchors set in mortar joints. Stucco needs fasteners that reach solid backing without cracking the finish. Wood fascia and beams take screws and clips, and metal pergolas get clamps instead of drilled holes where possible.

In Garland, we match hardware to each surface, use corrosion-resistant fasteners and keep holes to a minimum, so removing a run later leaves little to patch.

  • Mortar-joint anchors in brick and stone

  • Stucco fasteners that reach solid backing

  • Clamps on metal pergolas

  • Corrosion-resistant hardware on every mount

  • Fewest holes the layout allows

Garland Areas We Know

Garland stretches from a revitalized downtown square to neighborhoods along Lake Ray Hubbard and newer retail near Firewheel. Projects here range from small backyard patios to lake-view terraces.

Downtown Garland Square

The downtown square near the Granville Arts Center hosts events, restaurants and patios. Short runs anchored to older buildings and posts give the square's outdoor spaces a warm evening glow for event nights. Timers can switch the lights on before events begin and off after the crowd heads home.

Firewheel Area

Firewheel Town Center and nearby neighborhoods mix retail, dining and newer homes. Shopping-center walkways and backyard patios both benefit from carefully planned runs that stay tight and level. Timers switch walkway runs on at dusk, and backyard runs can be dimmed for quiet nights.

Belt Line and Broadway

Restaurants along Garland's main corridors, like Belt Line Road and Broadway Boulevard, can add patio lighting that defines outdoor seating, sets it apart from parking and draws evening customers. Poles on the parking side carry the canopy where there is no building wall to anchor it.

Lake Ray Hubbard

Homes and restaurants along Lake Ray Hubbard face open water and steady wind. We tension each run on support wire, size poles for exposure and keep strands and power well clear of docks and shoreline. Shatter-resistant bulbs and a dimmer keep the glow soft on the water.

Established Neighborhoods

Older Garland neighborhoods have brick homes and mature trees. Trees and masonry make sturdy anchors for spans that cross the backyard, often with fewer poles than newer subdivisions need. Straps are sized to loosen as trunks grow, and poles fill the gaps where trees fall short.

Built for North Texas Weather

Spring storms, summer heat and gusty fronts are part of life in Garland. Strands that work in a calmer climate can whip around here. We tension every run on support wire, clip bulbs so they do not swing into each other, and size poles and guy lines for the exposure.

Shatter-resistant LED bulbs handle bumps and small hail better than glass. After a major storm, a quick check confirms that anchors and spans are still tight.

  • Tensioned spans that resist sway

  • Clipped bulbs that do not knock together

  • Poles and guy lines sized for exposure

  • Shatter-resistant LED bulb options

  • Post-storm checks on request

How a Garland Project Is Scoped

The scope, and the price, follow from a handful of site and design choices.

Anchor Points

Walls, beams and sturdy trees are ready-made anchors. Where they are missing, poles, footings or weighted planters add material and labor, so the number of anchors needed shapes the project.

Site Conditions

Slopes, tight side yards, landscape beds and pool equipment can complicate pole placement and ladder setup, which adds time compared with an open, level patio.

Height and Access

Second-story eaves, rooftops and tall pergolas may call for lifts, extra ladders or added safety setup, all of which affect labor time on install day.

Combined Services

Pairing bistro lighting with landscape lighting, or with holiday lighting on commercial properties, can share anchors, power and site visits, which changes the overall scope.

Install Timing

Commercial work scheduled before opening, after close or around booked events can change crew scheduling, and the scope is planned with your calendar in mind.

Patio Lighting Questions

Have a question we didn’t cover? Call 972-620-9560 or request a free quote online.

Are the bulbs plastic or glass?

–

Both exist. Glass looks classic, but shatter-resistant plastic LED bulbs are the practical choice for most patios, pool decks and busy restaurants because they survive bumps, hail and dropped tools. Modern shatter-resistant bulbs look very close to glass once they are lit.

Can a business swap patio lights for holiday lighting?

–

Yes. Because we are also a Christmas Decor franchise, commercial properties can use the same anchors and power for holiday lighting during the season. We install the holiday design, maintain it, then remove and store it after the holidays while the bistro strands carry on.

Can you light a lake-view patio on Lake Ray Hubbard in Garland?

–

Yes. Lakefront patios are among the most enjoyable spaces to light, but they need the right hardware. We use tensioned catenary support wire, poles sized for wind off the water and corrosion-resistant fasteners, and we keep all runs and power well away from docks and the waterline.

Can string lights stay up all year?

–

Yes, when the system is built for it. Permanent installs use outdoor-rated strands, fixed anchors and support wire, so there is nothing to take down in the fall or rehang in the spring. Most of our bistro lighting stays up year-round and is serviced as needed.

What layout patterns are there?

–

The common ones are perimeter, zig-zag, center pole and parallel runs. Perimeter outlines the space, zig-zag creates a full canopy, center pole radiates runs like a tent and parallel runs suit long tables or lawns. We sketch the options so you can compare them before deciding.

What about hail and summer storms?

–

Shatter-resistant LED bulbs hold up far better than glass in small hail, and tensioned support wire keeps spans from whipping in strong gusts. After a major storm, it is worth a quick look at anchors and spans. If anything has shifted on a system we installed, call us for a service visit.

Will you mount to stucco, brick or stone without damage?

–

Yes. Each surface gets the right fastener. Brick and stone anchors usually go in mortar joints, stucco anchors reach solid backing without cracking the finish, and metal pergolas get clamps instead of holes where possible. We keep the number of anchor points to the minimum the layout needs.

Can you install string lights on a rooftop deck or bar?

–

Yes. Rooftops need extra planning for wind, scarce anchor points and roof protection. We use weighted or fixed pole bases, tension every span and coordinate access, elevator use and roof protection with building management. Certificates of insurance are provided before work begins.

Will attaching lights hurt my trees?

–

Not when it is done right. We use tree-safe straps that spread the load around the trunk instead of nails, screws or wire wrapped tight. Straps are sized so they can be loosened as the tree grows, and we check them during service visits.
