Car Dealership Christmas Lighting in Arlington, TX

Arlington has sold cars along its main highway for about a century. The first dealer row was Division Street, the old Bankhead Highway through downtown, where Vandergriff Chevrolet operated from 1937 to 1966. When the interstates opened, new-car stores followed the traffic. Today most of Arlington's franchised dealerships have Interstate 20 addresses in the south part of the city, with a smaller group in north Arlington around Interstate 30.

Christmas Decor by Carruthers Decorative Lighting lights those stores for the holidays. We design the display, install leased commercial-grade LED lighting cut to the building, maintain it through the season, take it down in January and store it.

Arlington is also a car-building city. General Motors has assembled vehicles here since 1954, and its dealer rows now face two interstates. A holiday display here is planned for freeway traffic first and for the customer walking in second.

What Works on the Interstate 20 Dealer Row

The Interstate 20 row runs for several exits. West Interstate 20 addresses east of Cooper Street include Toyota, Acura, Honda, Hyundai, Chevrolet, Ford and Mitsubishi stores. East Interstate 20 addresses continue the row with Buick GMC, Nissan, Kia and a Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram store. With that many showrooms in a line, the stores that register at night are the ones with a complete, even outline.

Freeway-facing elevations do most of the work. We outline the roofline and fascia on the side that faces Interstate 20, treat the entry canopy or portal as the focal point, and add frontage trees and pole-mounted decor where the lot has them. Where several stores of one group sit side by side, matching roofline lighting across the buildings makes the group read as one destination from the main lanes.

Some Arlington stores are set back from the freeway. The Mercedes-Benz store is on Beltway Place, on the south side of Interstate 20 between Collins Street and Matlock Road, and the Mazda and Volkswagen stores are on Tech Centre Parkway. For a building like that, the approach drive and entrance matter as much as the freeway face, so we light the route a customer actually takes to the door.

North Arlington needs a different plan. Toyota on Wet N Wild Way, the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram store on North Collins Street, BMW on East Lamar Boulevard and Ford on North Watson Road are near the Entertainment District. Much of the traffic there is event traffic moving slowly on surface streets, which gives entry decor, wrapped trees and showroom windows more time in front of each driver.

Showrooms and lounges are decorated at the same visit. Pre-lit trees, wreaths, garland, oversized ornaments and bows are placed where they do not block vehicles or desks.

Scheduling and documents follow a set order. The site walk comes first, then a written proposal with a design map, then a certificate of insurance if your group requires one. Installation takes place in the early morning or on slower weekdays with service lanes kept clear. Brand image rules are reviewed at the walk, and lighting stays off signage, brand elements and cameras.

Arlington Dealership Holiday Lighting FAQs

We have several rooftops next to each other on Interstate 20. Can they be lit as one display?

Yes. Adjacent stores in one group can share a roofline color and a common style of entry decor so the frontage reads as a single display. Each rooftop still receives its own site walk, written proposal and design map, because every manufacturer's image program sets different limits on the building.

Can you work around our sales and service hours?

Yes. Installation is scheduled for early mornings or slower weekdays. Crews keep service lanes and vehicle paths clear, and lighting is placed away from cameras and signage. January removal is scheduled the same way, so the store does not lose access to its lot or service drive at either end of the season.

Our north Arlington store gets heavy game-day and event traffic. Does that change the design?

It can. Near the Entertainment District, drivers often pass slowly on surface streets, so details near the curb and entrance get noticed: wrapped trees, wreaths, garland and decorated showroom windows. We still outline the building, and the design map shows how the display is split between the building and the frontage.

Do we have to buy or store any of the lighting?

No. The lighting and decor are leased. We supply commercial-grade LED lighting cut to your building, maintain it while it is up, remove it beginning in early January and keep it in a climate-controlled facility until the next season. The dealership owns nothing and stores nothing.
