Lemmon Avenue, LBJ Freeway and Interstate 20: Designing for Each Dallas Corridor

Lemmon Avenue is a city street, and that changes the design. Acura, Audi, Honda, Volkswagen, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and MINI, Lexus, Infiniti, Cadillac, Buick GMC, Lincoln and Subaru stores share about thirty blocks of it. Lemmon has long been a main route between Love Field and the center of the city, so the people passing are close to the building. Detail counts at that distance: straight fascia lines, a trimmed entry portal, wreaths at the customer door and wrapped street trees that can be read from the near lane.

Freeway stores need a display that reads from farther away. Chevrolet and Nissan stores face LBJ Freeway in the 4700 block in North Dallas, and Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and Toyota stores sit on the east side of the loop. In southwest Dallas, Hyundai, Nissan, Toyota, Kia and Honda stores share one stretch of the Interstate 20 frontage. On these sites we put the weight on the roofline, the tallest fascia and pole-mounted decor along the frontage, because a driver on the main lanes has only a few seconds with the store.

Every site walk begins by finding the elevation that faces the most traffic, and the design map marks that elevation first.

Manufacturer image programs shape what goes on the building. With this many brands in one city, we do not assume one store's rules apply to the next. What the program allows is settled at the site walk, and lighting stays clear of signage, brand elements, cameras and vehicle paths.

Showrooms and lounges are decorated to match the exterior. Pre-lit trees, wreaths, garland, bows and oversized ornaments are sized to the room. Stores that run year-end sales events can add app-controlled Twinkly Pro lighting and change colors for the event.

Installation is planned around your hours. Crews work early mornings or slower weekdays and keep service lanes and vehicle paths clear. In-season maintenance is included and is usually completed within 24 to 48 hours of a call. Removal begins in early January, and the lighting goes into climate-controlled storage.

Lighting is kept clear of signage, brand elements and cameras, and the written proposal shows exactly what is proposed for each elevation.

Can we change the colors for a year-end sales event?

Yes, if the store chooses app-controlled Twinkly Pro lighting. Colors can be changed from an app for a sales event and returned to a traditional look afterward. It can be used on part of the display, such as the entry or frontage trees, alongside standard commercial-grade LED outlining on the building.
