Fixtures and Effects We Install
These are the effects we design most often under NTD (Nite Time Decor), our landscape lighting line.
01
Uplit canopies
A pair of well-placed uplights can turn a mature shade tree into a soft column of light. We aim to show bark texture and branch shape without glare toward the street.
04
Steps, caps and seat walls
Hardscape lights hide inside or under stonework and wash the face below. They add safety on steps and a finished look to the patio edge.
02
Moonlighting from above
Downlights mounted high in a large tree cast dappled, moonlike shadows across the lawn and patio below. It suits big Southlake shade trees and feels natural rather than staged.
05
Ponds and water features
Submersible fixtures and nearby uplights bring fountains, ponds and pool edges to life at night, with sealed connections chosen for wet locations and cable hidden under nearby beds.
03
Front elevation lighting
Wide, warm wash light across the front of the house gives it presence from the street, while narrow beams pick out columns, stone and the entry door.
06
A plan before any digging
You see the layout first: what gets lit, which fixture does it, where the cable runs and where the transformer mounts. Nothing is placed by guesswork.

Fixtures, Materials and Color
Fixture choice shapes how a system looks and how long it holds up. Brass and copper fixtures weather to a dark finish and shrug off sprinklers and lawn equipment; aluminum is lighter and lower in cost.
Color temperature matters as much as brightness. Warm white, around 2700K, flatters brick, stone and foliage and feels like a porch light. Cooler whites can look harsh on a Southlake home, so we use them sparingly, mostly on blue-green plants or water.

Our Five-Step Process
01
Start the conversation
Tell us about the property, the look you want and any HOA or commercial requirements we need to meet.
02
Walk the grounds
A designer walks the yard, notes trees, beds, hardscape and power, and asks how you use the space after dark.
03
Size the system
Fixture count and wattage set the transformer size and cable layout, with headroom left so future additions plug into the same system.
04
Installation day
Fixtures go in, cable is buried shallow and connections are sealed. Many home installs wrap up in a day or two.
05
Service later
As plants grow we re-aim fixtures, clean lenses and swap failed parts on systems we installed, keeping the design as sharp as day one.
Southlake Homes and Town Square
Southlake is known for large homes, mature trees and detailed architecture, with Southlake Town Square at its center. Estates here often have several outdoor rooms, pools and long drives, so a good plan uses zones and layers rather than a single wash of light.
Timarron
Timarron homes sit on landscaped lots with mature trees and stone details. Uplit specimen trees, grazed stone and lit walks suit the neighborhood's polished look. Fixtures are placed with room for root flare and future growth, and cable is routed carefully around established beds and irrigation.
Estate lots and long drives
Larger Southlake properties need light at the drive entry, along curves and at the motor court, plus layered light on the house and back yard. Separate zones and more than one transformer let each area run on its own schedule, so the drive can stay lit all night.
Southlake Town Square
Retail, restaurants and offices around Town Square see busy evenings. Lit signs, planted islands and walkways help visitors move comfortably between parking and storefronts. Shielded fixtures inside curbed beds stay protected from carts and foot traffic, and keep light on plantings rather than in visitors' eyes.
SH 114 and Southlake Boulevard
Offices and medical buildings along SH 114 and Southlake Boulevard benefit from clean monument sign and entry lighting that runs on a schedule. Durable fixtures and sealed connections hold up to heat, storms and dust from the busy road, which keeps service calls to a minimum.
Make the Back Yard Usable After Dark
Most of the light people enjoy is behind the house. We light patios, pergolas, outdoor kitchens, pool decks and fire pits so evenings outside in Southlake do not end at sunset.
Downlights from eaves and pergola beams give even light for cooking and dining. Step and hardscape lights keep edges safe. A few uplit trees at the fence line give the yard depth, so the space feels larger than it does in daylight. Bistro string lighting can tie in too.

Cost Factors to Know
Here is what changes the number from one property to the next.
How much you light
A focused front-yard plan uses far fewer fixtures than a full-property design. We can start with the front and add the back yard later on the same system.
How you switch it on
Automatic dusk-on and timed shutoff come standard on most designs. Adding phone control and more zones adds hardware, wiring and setup time to the project, so we only include what you will use.
Metal and finish
Fixtures near sprinklers, lawn edges and drives take the most abuse. Choosing heavier metals there and lighter ones in protected beds balances cost and durability.
System size and distance
More fixtures need more transformer capacity, and features far from the outlet need longer, heavier cable to keep brightness even from the first fixture on the run to the last one.
Tree size and height
Tall trees need stronger fixtures or more of them, and moonlighting from high branches takes climbing and careful mounting time that simple ground uplights do not.

Questions About Landscape Lighting in Southlake
Have a question we didn’t cover? Call 972-620-9560 or request a free quote online.
How much does it cost to light a Southlake yard?
–
There is no single number because every yard is different. The main drivers are how many fixtures you need, whether they are brass or aluminum, the transformer size, the distance cable has to travel and whether we cross concrete or stone. We visit, measure and send a written proposal that shows each factor.
How do you light a large Southlake estate?
–
We split the property into zones: drive and entry, front facade, trees, back yard and pool. Each zone gets its own fixtures and schedule, often on more than one transformer. Layering accent, path and patio light keeps the whole property balanced instead of bright in one spot and dark in another.
Are brass fixtures worth the extra cost?
–
For fixtures near lawns, drives and sprinklers, often yes. Brass and copper weather to a dark finish, resist corrosion and survive bumps from mowers better than painted aluminum. Aluminum can make sense in protected spots. We show both options in the proposal so you can choose by location.
Can you light large oak trees?
–
Yes. Big oaks can be uplit from the ground to show the trunk and canopy, moonlit from fixtures mounted high in the branches, or both. Moonlighting casts soft shadow patterns across the lawn and is one of the most natural effects in landscape lighting.
Can different parts of the yard run on different schedules?
–
Yes. We can wire the system into zones, such as front trees, path lights and the back patio, and set each one separately. Many owners leave path and security lights on all night while accent lights shut off around midnight.
Do you light businesses near Southlake Town Square?
–
Yes. We light commercial properties in Southlake, including signs, entry drives, walkways, planted islands and building faces. Our insured crew can provide certificates of insurance and schedule work around tenants and business hours. Fixtures sit inside curbed beds, protected from foot traffic and carts.
Will my HOA allow landscape lighting?
–
Most HOAs allow it, though some ask for approval first or have rules about brightness and glare. We keep beams aimed onto your property, avoid light toward neighbors and can give you a fixture list and layout to include with an approval request.
How do I keep the system looking its sharpest?
–
Trim plants away from fixtures, keep mulch off lenses and let us know when a light goes dark. Once or twice a year, a service visit to clean, re-aim, tighten connections and adjust the timer keeps the design balanced as your landscape grows.
Can I see how it will look before you install?
–
Yes. We walk through the plan with you and show where each fixture goes and what it lights. Because placement is everything in landscape lighting, we also adjust aim and brightness after dark on install day, so the final look is tuned in person rather than left to chance.
