Our Little Elm Outdoor Lighting Work

These are the effects we design most often under NTD (Nite Time Decor), our landscape lighting line.

01

Patio and pergola light

Small downlights on beams, step lights on stairs and accents on planters turn a dark patio into a room you actually use after sunset in Little Elm.

04

Safer dark corners

We find the spots your porch light misses: the side of the garage, the back fence line and the steps off the patio, and put soft, steady light there.

02

Grazing stone and brick

Fixtures set close to the wall and aimed upward rake light across texture, so stone, brick and stucco on a Little Elm home show depth at night.

05

HOA entrances and monuments

Neighborhood entry walls, stone monuments and median plantings need even, reliable light. We design for the board's look, keep fixtures low and sturdy and set them on a reliable dusk schedule.

03

Path fixtures done right

Staggered placement and soft pools of light read as natural; straight rows of stake lights look like a runway. We space fixtures to fit the shape of each walk.

06

Ongoing upkeep

A short service visit keeps the system looking the way it did on day one: fixtures straightened, lenses cleaned, wiring checked and schedules reset for the season.

Timers, Photocells and App Control

A system is only useful if it turns on by itself. Transformers can run on a photocell that senses dusk, a timer that shuts lights off late at night, or both together.

App-based controls add zones and schedules you can change from your phone, such as path lights all night and tree lights until midnight. We set the schedule before the crew leaves your Little Elm property and show you how to adjust it when seasons and daylight change.

  • Photocell turns lights on at dusk

  • Timer turns them off when you choose

  • Separate zones for front, back and trees

  • Schedules adjusted as daylight changes

Little Elm, Lakefront and Beyond

Little Elm has grown fast around Lewisville Lake, with lakefront parks, newer master-planned neighborhoods and busy corridors like FM 423 and Eldorado Parkway. Many homes are newer, with clean facades and young trees, so lighting design focuses on architecture and outdoor living now, with room to grow.

The Lakefront District

Restaurants and shops near Little Elm Park and the lakefront draw evening visitors. Path lights, uplit trees and lit signage make the area welcoming and help people find their way after sunset. Fixtures are set clear of foot traffic and seasonal festival crowds, so they keep working all year.

FM 423 and Eldorado Parkway

Retail and offices along FM 423 and Eldorado Parkway need dependable sign and entry lighting that runs on a schedule and holds up to wind and storms off the lake. Sealed connections and sturdy mounts keep the system running after spring storms move across the lake.

Newer neighborhoods

Many Little Elm homes have stone and brick facades with young landscaping. Facade wash, entry accents and path light deliver curb appeal right away, with tree fixtures added as plantings fill in. We size the transformer with room to spare, so new fixtures plug into the same system.

Back yards and patios

Little Elm back yards are made for evenings outside. Downlights on patio covers, step lights on decks and pool edges and a few uplit fence-line trees make the space feel bigger. A separate patio zone lets you dim or switch off seating-area light while path lights stay on for safety.

Landscape Lighting for Little Elm Businesses

Commercial properties need light that works every night without anyone thinking about it. We light monument signs, drive entries, parking islands, building faces and walkways for offices, retail centers, churches and medical buildings.

Our parent company, Carruthers Landscape Management, has worked on commercial grounds across Dallas-Fort Worth since 1978, so we plan fixtures around irrigation, mowing and planting cycles. Liability insurance and workers' compensation are in place, and we provide certificates of insurance on request.

Where the Budget Goes

No two yards cost the same; these choices make the biggest difference.

How much you light

A focused front-yard plan uses far fewer fixtures than a full-property design. We can start with the front and add the back yard later on the same system.

Fixture material

Brass and copper fixtures cost more up front than aluminum but hold up better to sprinklers, mowers and Texas weather over many seasons of nightly use.

How you switch it on

Automatic dusk-on and timed shutoff come standard on most designs. Adding phone control and more zones adds hardware, wiring and setup time to the project, so we only include what you will use.

Power and cable runs

The distance from your outlet to each fixture group matters. Far fence lines, gazebos and detached features need longer cable runs or a second transformer.

Site conditions

Rock, thick roots, dense beds and finished hardscape all affect install time. We note them on the site visit so the proposal reflects the real work.

Questions About Landscape Lighting in Little Elm

Have a question we didn’t cover? Call 972-620-9560 or request a free quote online.

How much does it cost to light a Little Elm yard?

–

There is no single number because every yard is different. The main drivers are how many fixtures you need, whether they are brass or aluminum, the transformer size, the distance cable has to travel and whether we cross concrete or stone. We visit, measure and send a written proposal that shows each factor.

Is landscape lighting worth it with young trees?

–

Yes. With young trees, the design leans on the facade, entry, walks and patio, which look good right away. We plan cable and transformer capacity so tree uplights can be added easily as the trees grow, without redoing the system. Warm color temperatures make even a new house feel settled.

Is landscape lighting a shock hazard?

–

Low-voltage systems are designed to minimize that risk. The transformer converts household current to roughly 12 volts, the cable is shallow and sealed connectors keep moisture out. It is a much safer choice for yards with children, pets, sprinklers and frequent gardening than line-voltage outdoor wiring.

What happens to the lights after a big storm?

–

Most systems ride out storms without trouble because connections are sealed and fixtures are staked firmly. Hail or high wind can knock a fixture out of aim or bury it in debris. Call the office and we will schedule a service visit to straighten, re-aim or replace anything damaged.

Can different parts of the yard run on different schedules?

–

Yes. We can wire the system into zones, such as front trees, path lights and the back patio, and set each one separately. Many owners leave path and security lights on all night while accent lights shut off around midnight.

Do you light businesses near the Little Elm lakefront?

–

Yes. We light restaurants, retail and offices in Little Elm, including signs, entry beds, walkways and building faces. Our crews are insured, certificates of insurance are available, and schedules can match your hours. Fixtures sit inside beds, protected from foot traffic and storms off the lake.

Do I need HOA approval for landscape lighting?

–

Some Little Elm neighborhoods require architectural approval for exterior changes, and some limit glare or fixture types. Check your HOA's guidelines before installation. We can provide a layout and fixture details for your application and design the system to keep light on your property.

How soon can lights be on after I say yes?

–

After the design is approved, scheduling depends on the season and the size of the job. The installation itself usually takes a day or two for a home, plus a short evening visit to adjust aim and set the timer or app schedule.

What color of light looks right on a house?

–

Warm white, around 2700K, suits most homes. It flatters brick, stone, stucco and foliage and feels like a porch light. Cooler whites can make a house look stark, so we use them only where they help, such as on silver-green plants or water features.
