LAKE DALLAS PATIO LIGHTING
Bistro & String Light Installation in Lake Dallas, TX
Lake breezes are hard on cheap string lights. We hang commercial-grade bistro strands on steel guide wire for Lake Dallas decks, lakeside patios, pergolas and restaurant terraces.
✓ Posts where needed ✓ Commercial-grade LED strands ✓ Dimmers and timers

QUICK ANSWER
String or bistro lighting is a weatherproof cable with large LED bulbs, hung overhead between structures, trees or posts. Near Lewisville Lake, wind is the main challenge, so Christmas Decor by Carruthers Decorative Lighting tensions every longer span on catenary wire and uses shatter-resistant bulbs for Lake Dallas homes and businesses.

Where We Hang Bistro Lights in Lake Dallas
Every space starts with how people use it after dark, then we pick spans, poles and bulbs to fit.
01
Open patio canopies
Strands cross overhead in a zig-zag or parallel lines so the whole seating area glows evenly. We set the spacing so light lands on the table, not just the fence.
04
Covered porches and loggias
Under a roof, a single run along the beam line or a tight drape adds warmth without glare. It is a small install that changes how a porch feels every night.
02
Pergola and arbor lighting
Runs follow the beams or drape between them, fastened with clips that leave the wood intact. A pergola becomes the focal point of the yard at night instead of a dark frame.
05
Outdoor kitchens and bars
Task-friendly strands over a grill island or bar top let you see what you are cooking while the rest of the space stays soft and relaxed.
03
Rooftop bars and terraces
Rooftops have few anchor points and more wind. We use weighted planter poles or parapet mounts and tensioned catenary wire so strands stay put on breezy nights.
06
Walkways and entry paths
A row of posts with swagged strands guides guests from the parking area to the door. It doubles as a welcome and a safety light.

Three Layouts That Work in Most Lake Dallas Spaces
Most patios and yards fit one of three layouts. A perimeter run traces the edges and suits long, narrow spaces. A zig-zag canopy crosses back and forth overhead for full, even light over a seating area. A center canopy radiates from a single tall pole to the edges, which suits round spaces and fire pit circles.
We sketch the layout on a photo of your space so you can see it before install day.

Ongoing care
After install we stay available for bulb replacement, re-tensioning after storms and new extensions as your space changes or grows.
Lighting Near the Lake
Lake Dallas is a small town on the shore of Lewisville Lake along I-35E. Its lake-facing yards and decks shape almost every layout we draw here.
Lakeside decks and patios
Homes facing Lewisville Lake catch steady wind off the water. Tensioned steel wire, turnbuckles and shatter-resistant bulbs keep strands level and intact, so the view after dark includes your own lights, not a tangle. Weatherproof connections and drip loops protect the system from rain and the damp evenings that come with living close to the water.
Willow Grove Park side
Homes near Willow Grove Park and the shoreline often have open yards with few trees. Posts set in concrete give a solid frame for a zig-zag canopy over the seating area. We also set the canopy height so it frames the lake view instead of cutting through it, and dimmers keep the glow gentle for neighbors.
Main Street area
Small businesses near downtown Lake Dallas often have courtyards or side lots. A canopy from the building to posts creates a gathering space that works for evenings, events and weekend crowds. Strands can come on with a timer for evenings and weekends, and the warm white glow pairs well with brick and older facades near downtown.
I-35E commercial pads
Restaurants along the I-35E frontage benefit from patios visible to passing traffic. A bright, even run over outdoor seating signals that the patio is open and inviting. Even socket spacing makes the patio look finished from the road, and commercial cable takes nightly use without fading or cracking in summer heat.
Backyard or Business Patio: What Changes
A backyard install is about mood: a few spans over the seating area, a dimmer, maybe a timer. A commercial patio is about uptime. Restaurants, breweries and venues run strands every night, so we specify heavier cable, more anchor points and layouts staff can maintain.
Commercial sites also think about the code and the landlord. We keep wiring tidy, connections protected and clearances clear of servers and guests, and we can share certificates of insurance before work starts.

Pricing Depends on These Details
A few details decide most of the price, and we walk you through each one.
Height and access
Second-story hang points, rooftops and high pergolas may need taller ladders or a lift, which adds labor and setup time compared with a single-story patio.
Commercial requirements
Restaurants and venues often need heavier cable, more anchor points and service access that staff can reach. Those details add durability for nightly use and some cost.
Posts and poles
If there is nothing to attach to, we add steel posts in concrete or weighted planter poles. Each new anchor point adds material and install time.
Power and controls
Using an existing outdoor outlet is the simplest setup. Adding dimmers, timers, smart plugs or a new circuit from a licensed electrician changes the scope of the job.
Mounting surfaces
Brick, stone, stucco and wood each need different anchors and sealing. Hard masonry surfaces and tall attachment points take more time to drill and finish cleanly.

Questions We Hear in Lake Dallas
Have a question we didn’t cover? Call 972-620-9560 or request a free quote online.
How long do commercial-grade LED bulbs last?
–
Far longer than incandescent bulbs, and they run cool to the touch. Most commercial LED bistro bulbs are rated for thousands of hours, so nightly use for years is normal. When one fails, it is a simple screw-in swap rather than a whole new strand.
Are you insured?
–
Yes. Our crews are covered by liability insurance and workers' compensation. Lake Dallas property managers, landlords and homeowners can request a certificate of insurance from our Dallas office before work starts, and we are happy to send it to whoever needs a copy.
Do I need a new outdoor outlet?
–
It depends on where power sits today. LED strands draw little power, so an existing outdoor GFCI outlet usually works fine. When a hard-wired switch or new circuit makes sense, a licensed electrician handles that piece and we coordinate the layout around it.
What is the difference between bistro, café and string lights?
–
Mostly naming. Bistro, café, market and Edison lights all mean overhead strands with spaced bulbs. The real choices are bulb shape, socket spacing and cable weight. We show samples at the site visit so you can pick the look in person instead of guessing from a product photo.
Can a business patio get holiday décor too?
–
Yes. Holiday lighting and décor is our main business. For Lake Dallas restaurants, venues and commercial properties, we can add wreaths, garland, lit trees and building lighting around the patio, with design, installation, in-season service and removal handled by one team.
Will the strands sag or blow around in North Texas wind?
–
Not when they are installed properly. Wind is the reason we use steel guide wire on longer spans in Lake Dallas: the wire holds tension and the strand simply rides along it. After a hard storm, a turnbuckle adjustment brings any span back to level.
Can string lights stay up all year?
–
They can. A year-round system uses heavier cable, steel guide wire and anchors meant to stay put. Retail sets are not built for that, which is why they fade, crack and sag within a season. Commercial-grade strands handle years of North Texas heat, wind and storms.
Can you light a restaurant or brewery patio?
–
Yes. Restaurant, bar and brewery patios need lighting that runs every night, looks good from the street and is easy to service. We design for all three, and our office can provide certificates of insurance for landlords or property managers before the crew arrives.
Do you work with HOAs, landlords and pergola builders?
–
Yes. Many Lake Dallas neighborhoods and commercial properties have rules about attachments and visible wiring, and we design around them. We also work alongside pergola and patio builders so hang points and power are planned before construction wraps up. Certificates of insurance are available on request.
