North Texas goes all in on Christmas lights. Whole neighborhoods coordinate. Single homes run music shows with tens of thousands of lights. Gardens and parks sell tickets to walk-through trails.

Plano

Deerfield is the name most people know. The neighborhood sits between Preston Road and Coit Road in west Plano. Homes go all out, and many visitors walk the streets or book a horse-drawn carriage ride.


  • Deerfield Holiday Lights: free. In 2025 it ran in December, with later hours on weekends.

  • Elf Town: a Deerfield home on Penbrook Court featured on The Great Christmas Light Fight. In 2025, donations benefited Susan G. Komen.

  • Biscayne Drive: the 2800 block has lights, inflatables and animatronics.


Deerfield draws heavy traffic on weekends. The neighborhood website posts traffic and parking guidance each season. Check the event site for 2026 dates and hours.

Frisco

Frisco mixes big single-home shows with a city-center event.


  • Burkman Holiday Home: a Great Christmas Light Fight home with about 115,000 lights, animatronics and character photo nights. In 2025 it collected toys for the LiyanaStrong Foundation and closed some weeknights and in bad weather.

  • Lights Over Frisco: a music-synced show on Turnbridge Drive.

  • Christmas in the Square: a nightly light show in Frisco Square, with ice skating, Santa visits and carriage rides. Santa visits were free in 2025; skating and some other features were ticketed.

Allen

Allen has some of the most popular music shows in Collin County.


  • The Movie House: 1600 Wagon Wheel Drive. A 15-minute show of holiday movie highlights set to music and more than 10,000 lights. In 2025 it ran from Thanksgiving through New Year's Day, starting every quarter hour in the evening.

  • Twin Creeks Drive: a music-synced home show in the Twin Creeks area.

  • James Court: beams of light and an animatronic snowman.


Park where it is allowed, keep driveways clear and turn off your headlights while you watch. Check the event site for 2026 dates and hours.


Richardson

Richardson is central to some of the area's top displays. Deerfield in Plano is a short drive north. The Lake Highlands 12 Days of Christmas street in Dallas is a short drive south. The Movie House in Allen is up US 75.

Dallas neighborhoods

Dallas has several neighborhoods with decades of holiday tradition.


  • Highland Park and the Park Cities: Highland Park Village shines with about 1.5 million lights. Drive Bishop Boulevard at SMU toward the fountain, and expect horse carriages to slow traffic.

  • 12 Days of Christmas, Lake Highlands: Timberhollow Circle. Each home shows one of the 12 days. The entrance is on Moss Haven Drive, one block south of Royal Lane off Abrams Road.

  • Kessler Park: grand homes with a skyline backdrop in north Oak Cliff.

  • Elderoaks: Elderoaks Lane, Elderleaf Drive and Elderoaks Place in Oak Cliff. Free, with lights on at dusk.

  • Preston Hollow and University Park: several single homes draw crowds, including a Grinch-themed house and a Santa house with a restored Big Tex in a Santa hat.


Popular single homes get heavy traffic. Go on a weeknight, or park nearby and walk. Check the event site for 2026 dates and hours.


Arlington, Bedford and Northeast Tarrant

The west side of the Metroplex has some of the longest-running drive-throughs.

If you want a set path, food and activities, these ticketed events are worth a look. Prices and dates change each year, so check before you buy.


  • Dallas Arboretum: holiday village, 12 Days of Christmas gazebos and evening light displays.

  • Dallas Zoo Lights: animal lanterns and lit pathways.

  • Astra Lumina at Trinity Forest Adventure Park: a mile-long night walk through light installations.

  • Christmas in the Garden, Fort Worth Botanic Garden: a lit path of about a mile. Plan about 90 minutes.

  • Miracle on 134th Street, Celina: over a million lights, walking trails, a train, a carousel and a petting zoo.

  • Frostival at Howell Family Farms, Arlington: a light trail, a fire-and-ice show and a giant slide.

  • Vitruvian Lights, Addison: free entry in 2025, with paid parking.

Tips for visiting

  1. Go on a weeknight. Friday and Saturday nights draw the biggest crowds.

  2. Arrive right after dark. Lines grow later in the evening.

  3. Park and walk in busy neighborhoods like Deerfield and the Park Cities.

  4. Turn off headlights and use parking lights when stopped at a show, if it is safe.

  5. Tune your car radio to the posted station for music shows.

  6. Respect private property. Stay on sidewalks and keep driveways clear.

  7. Check social media before you leave. Shows close for rain, wind and cold.
